How do you get people to do the good deed and get rewarded at the busiest and happiest music festival in India?
NH7 Weekender, the biggest music festival celebrating independent music in India, is observed at a scale that can be nightmarish for the organisers to keep clean when the celebrations precede the moral duty of dropping waste in the bin.
To challenge this barrier, we decided to reward anyone making an effort to drop waste in the bin by giving them access to free internet.
As a result, the Wi-Fi Bin was used by more than 10,000 people, with 200 GB of data downloaded.
The purpose of this reward-based nudge was to inspire a positive reinforcement for habit change and reduce excess scattering the next day.
